Marilyn Manson'ın kuruluşu
Grup öncesi, Satan on Fire adlı bir grupta bas gitar çalar ve Mrs. Scabtree'de ise davul çalar. Bu gruplar da daha sonra grup elemanı olacak Twiggy Ramirez ile çalışmaktadır. 1989'da Marilyn Manson & Satan of Fire kurulur. Çıkardıkları başarılı demolar ile internet ve gazetecilik zamanındaki sağlam bağlantılarıyla hemencecik ün salan, sonrasında şarkı sözleri ile kitleleri kendi saflarına çeken Manson and the Spooky Kids, zaman içerisinde müzisyen değişiklikleri yapar. Sahada sürekli değişen insanlar bir anda grubun imajına dahil olup bir nevi mutasyon geçirirler. Tamamıyla sahne şovundan ibaret olduğu düşünülen Manson ailesi üyeleri yaşam tarzlarıyla da hep gündeme düşmesi bu zamana denk gelir. 1992'de grubun adı Marilyn Manson olarak kısaltılır.
